Alex joined FOURTEEN as a tenant following a three-month probationary tenancy ending in December 2022. During pupillage, Alex was involved in a wide range of family law matters including high value matrimonial finance work, cases with an international aspect (including Part III and Hague Convention Proceedings) and intractable disputes in both public and private child law proceedings.
Alex welcomes instructions in all areas of family law and has experience acting for clients at all stages of proceedings.
Alex has a particular interest in cases involving an international element and has appeared in the Family and High Court in respect of the same. Alex has recently appeared in the High Court defending summary return proceedings under the Hague Convention 1980 and opposing enforcement of a foreign return order under article 11 of Brussels IIa.
Alex is regularly instructed in financial remedy proceedings and has appeared in cases involving joinder of 3rd party intervenors, disputes as to assets held under trust, property held internationally and setting aside transactions under s37 MCA. He regularly appears in FDRs and final hearings.
Alex has experience conducting protracted fact-finding and final hearings in private child law proceedings. He has appeared in cases in which he has successfully sought and defended serious allegations of parental alienation. Alex regularly appears in hearings involving allegations of domestic abuse and takes pride in giving pragmatic advice at the earliest opportunity whilst also providing an empathetic and supportive service to clients. Alex has experience conducting hearings lasting up to 9 days involving numerous sets of cross-allegations.
Before completing pupillage, Alex was a paralegal at boutique Mayfair solicitors Peters May and assisted on a broad range of family law matters. Alex maintains a strong academic interest in family law stretching back to his research thesis and time spent as a part-time family law academic at Durham University.
