Before commencing pupillage, Valcina worked as a Trainee Legal Adviser to Magistrates in the Family Court, providing legal advice on law and procedure and assisting with the management of family proceedings. Valcina regularly advised in Public and Private Children matters, Non-Molestation Order and Occupation Order applications. She previously worked as a County Court Advocate, representing clients in over 320 hearings across the South Eastern Circuit in a range of civil matters.
Valcina worked as a paralegal at a family law firm, working exclusively with a senior solicitor on complex care proceedings, where she developed her client management skills and deepened her knowledge of family law.
During her studies, Valcina spent a year in Toronto, where she volunteered with Pro Bono Students Canada on the Family Law Project, assisting unrepresented parties in family courts, drafting witness statements and urgent applications. She also marshalled in the High Court Family Division, observing complex adoption proceedings.
In her free time, Valcina enjoys attending theatre shows and travelling.
