Gillian has been practising as a full-time family barrister for over 30 years. Her practice is predominantly in the High Court and the County Court. She also appears in the Court of Appeal both as sole and senior counsel. Her area of expertise is in public and private law cases in which children have suffered serious physical abuse including death, emotional and psychological harm, ritual abuse and neglect. Gillian’s cases usually involve a multiplicity of medical experts, including consultant paediatric neurosurgeons, radiologists and ophthalmologists, reporting on the likely causation of injuries; and consultant psychiatrists and psychologists who report on emotional and cognitive functioning.
Gillian is instructed in difficult private law children cases where residence and/or contact is disputed and where one parent may be implacably hostile to the other; or where one parent seeks leave to remove a child from the jurisdiction.
Gillian is also an experienced family finance practitioner.
